Rules & Guidelines
Veggie Hot Dogs:
One hot dog is counted as fully eating one wiener and one bun. Partially eaten hot dogs are counted, measured in parts of eight. The competitor who eats the most hot dogs wins.
All hot dogs and buns will be 100% Vegan.
Time Limit - 12 minutes:
All veggie dogs or partial veggie dogs in the mouth at the end of 12 minutes may be counted, but only if they are chewed and swallowed completely.
Partially eaten veggie dogs count and the unit of measurement is eighths of a veggie dog.
Categories:
We have two fields in which to compete: a single and a doubles category. You can only compete in one; unless you are a veggie dog eating cyborg, in which case we'll probably disqualify you.
Single: Eating solo. One stomach; one plate of veggie dogs.
Doubles: A team of two can compete against other teams. Eat simultaneously or tag team: it's up to you.
Eating Methods:
Competitors may consume the veggie dogs using any eating method they wish. A widely used technique is soaking the buns in water or other liquid.
We will have a blender available for those who prefer to eat their veggie dogs in liquid form.
We welcome innovations in the art of competitive veggie hot dog eating. Competitors may determine their technique and inform the organizers of any special requests they may have to assist in this.
Safety (Very Important!):
Eating a lot very quickly presents certain risks.
Each competitor is responsible for making sure they have a healthy, safe, and fun time. Please discuss any possible issues or concerns with the organizers beforehand to ensure your safety. A safe event is a priority for the organizers.
During competition, eaters may feel pressured due to the high energy of the event to push themselves harder than necessary. The organizers stress that all eaters stay within their comfort level and if at any point feel unwell to stop competing and let the organizers know. We will have trained paramedics on the scene to attend to medical issues.
Now, the Fun Stuff
Costume and Stage Name:
Do you want to dress up? We're not going to stop you. In fact, we encourage competitors to be as attention-getting as they want. We encourage trashtalking -- in good humor and fun of course -- and most likely will insult you or praise you depending on how much we like you.
A Stage Name can help you stand out as well as intimidate your eating opponents. The current world record holder for (meat) hot dogs is known as Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi. Send us your nom de guerre so we can announce it through the streets of our fair city.
Prizes:
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we will be awarding prizes to the top eaters in both categories.
Prizes will be awarded to the eaters who consume the most number of veggie dogs, with potential awards for style and good sportmanship.
No competitor will walk away empty handed. Or empty stomached.
